Brian Scudamore is the Founder & CEO of 3 franchise companies: 1-800-GOT-JUNK?, WOW 1 DAY Painting, and You Move Me. He is an entrepreneur recognized for his passion, vision, and faith in people. Brian is widely known as the pioneer of the professional junk removal industry in North America and is now recognized as a serial entrepreneur, applying special branding and a strong customer focus to traditional, service-based industries.
Brian started his first business in Vancouver, Canada at the age of 18, and later went on to franchise that company – 1-800-GOT-JUNK? – as a way to expand operations. Today,
1-800-GOT-JUNK? has more than 850 trucks on the road throughout 170 locations in the United States, Canada, and Australia.
In 2012 he met the Founder of a unique, one-day painting company and together they made the decision to franchise as WOW 1 DAY Painting. Brian launched his third brand, You Move Me, a different kind of moving company in 2013. You Move Me made franchise history becoming the only company to launch more than 25 individual franchise units at one time. You Move Me leveraged the best of the best from the 1-800-GOT-JUNK? brand prior to opening to the general public for franchise opportunities.
Brian has received wide recognition in the media and business community. His companies have celebrated appearances on ABC Nightline, Good Morning America, Dr. Phil, Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers, Dr. Oz, CNN, The Today Show, George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight, and Fox Business. His story has been told in Fortune Magazine, Business Week, New York Times, Huffington Post, and Wall Street Journal, to name a few. 1-800-GOT-JUNK? is also the starring junk removal attraction on the hit reality show, Hoarders. Other television appearances include Canada Sings and Undercover Boss. In addition to interviews and guest appearances, Brian contributes written articles on building a business and entrepreneurism to many national magazines, including a monthly column in PROFIT Magazine.
In 2012 Brian became a CEO Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Inductee with the Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization. In 2007, Brian was honored to have been named the International Franchise Association’s Entrepreneur of the Year. Other accolades include Fortune Small Business’ Best Bosses Award, Globe & Mail’s Top 40 under 40, and a three-time winner of a prestigious “Best Company To Work For” award. In 2004, Brian was inducted into the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) and served as a board member for the Young Entrepreneurs’ Organization (YEO).
