Steve brings over fourteen years of expertise in strategic marketing, communications and business development gained from his experience within the new media, entertainment, technology and non-profit sectors to his role of President of Boilingpoint Group. Here, Steve manages the overall operations and focuses on strategic direction, new business development and client relations. A staunch believer in PR-lead marketing solutions, Steve thrives on helping organizations integrate traditional and digital media strategies to drive business results.
Before founding Boilingpoint, Steve was the Director of Marketing and Business Development of Chalk Media, a leading North American “how-to” content solutions company, where he played a key role in successfully navigating the business past the dotcom crash and getting it listed on the TSX Venture Exchange. During this time, Steve oversaw Chalk’s re-branding strategy, launched numerous content distribution partnerships (Vancouver Sun, Canada.com, GlobeandMail.com and Costco), implemented a national public relations program, and helped set the foundation for the company’s strong market position in the e-learning industry. Prior to that, Steve was instrumental in growing Chalk Media’s in-flight television distribution network from two to nine international airline carriers, expanding the potential audience base from 10 to over 200 million passengers annually.
Big into community building, Steve volunteers his time serving as Director of Place des Arts, Immediate Past President of the BC chapter of the American Marketing Association, Co-Founder/Director of C3 Korean Canadian Society and member of the Multicultural Advisory Council. He is also a public speaker and writer for various marketing publications.
Steve is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario and holds a Master of Arts from Korea University, where he specialized in the study of venture-backed technology, business and industry.
